As I reflect on the overview of the Bible, one striking pattern emerges - God tends to use people who are broken. In fact, it seems that the more broken they are, the more intensely He uses them. Conversely, it appears that those who seem perfect often face challenges and adversity. Have you ever felt like you have come to the end of yourself, with no way forward? The weight of life seems overwhelming, and you wish you could just disappear? I have been there too.
Over the past decade, I have faced numerous challenges, some of which I rarely speak about except to a select few close friends. From nearly losing my life several times, to being defrauded in business, and experiencing the loss of significant people in my life, the journey has been tumultuous. There were moments when I felt stretched mentally, emotionally, and spiritually beyond what I thought was possible. And just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, they did - ten times worse.
But amidst the struggles, I have learned an invaluable lesson - seasons change. What we are going through will pass. It may seem unbearable at the moment, but with faith and resilience, we can overcome. I am reminded of the words of Les Brown, who suggests that in the face of difficulty, we should whisper to ourselves, "It is possible," and remind ourselves that we can and will overcome.
One of the most profound truths I have come to understand is that God often requires broken people. He uses our brokenness to shape us, mold us, and prepare us for our purpose in life. It is in our brokenness that we learn humility, empathy, and the value of resilience. It is through our struggles that we develop strength, courage, and perseverance. When we are broken, we are stripped of our self-sufficiency and forced to rely on a power greater than ourselves.
Looking back at the Bible, we see countless examples of broken individuals whom God used in mighty ways. Moses, a man with a stutter and a painful past, led the Israelites out of Egypt. David, a young shepherd with a checkered history, became a great king. Peter, a impulsive and flawed disciple, became a pillar of the early Christian church. These individuals were not perfect, but their brokenness was a crucial part of their journey towards fulfilling their purpose.
On the other hand, we see examples of seemingly perfect individuals who faced their share of challenges. Job, known for his righteousness, endured unimaginable loss and suffering. Paul, faced persecution and imprisonment for his faith. These individuals faced difficulties that refined their character and deepened their faith.
So, if you find yourself in a season of brokenness, take heart. Speak to God about finding purpose for your struggles. Embrace your brokenness as a part of your journey towards Becoming Maverick. Allow it to shape you, refine you, and teach you valuable lessons. Remember that seasons change, and what you are going through will pass. Hold on to hope, cultivate resilience, and trust in a power greater than yourself.
In conclusion, I want to encourage all those who are going through a hard time. Your struggles are not in vain. Embrace your brokenness as a stepping stone towards your purpose. Remember the words of Les Brown, "It is possible." You can and will overcome. Seasons change, and a brighter future awaits.
Keep pressing forward on your journey of Becoming Maverick.
