Peace Vs Homeostasis

At the end of 2020 and into 2021 I was on a 40-day quest to find Peace.

Well, about 20 days on my journey of seeking peace lead to what I am about to share with you now. So, get your cup of coffee ready, place on your thinking hat, and let us unpack this concept together.

It has been several years now that I have been ponding on the concept of Homeostasis and its impact on our daily lives.  Seeking Peace and mediating Homeostasis were different departure points at two different points in time.  I did never expect that these two chains of thought would collide.

First let us take a few moments on the concept of Homeostasis.  This is a term used in the context of biology and ecology.  It refers to a system, organ, or organism being in a state of perfect balance.  homeostasis is the healthiest state that one of these can be in.

Nature has intricate processes to ensure that everything stays in the state of Homeostasis, and perfect balance.  Once there is a disruption, the system, organ or organism goes into a state of distress and attempts to restore back to balance.  Depending on the size of the imbalance the reaction can be extreme.  Nature will destroy the cause of the distress if necessary.

Remember that nature is powerful and operates on time scales much longer than the life span of an average human being. This is a good time to remind you of Newton's Second Law of Thermodynamics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Funny, The Bible has a word that means basically the same thing.  That word is Peace.   It is derived from the Hebrew word Shalom which refers to being in a state of wholeness and perfect balance.  It dates all the way back to Genesis.

May I remind you that in the being God created the heavens and the earth. i.e the spiritual and the natural.

When we have a Spiritual and a natural principle so closely related it is an indicator of undying truth that should not be ignored.  Potentially a key of life that we should take careful note of.

What does this mean? Very Simple! We need to live in harmony with everything and everyone in our environment.  The environment is just a fancy word referring to our surroundings.

In addition our inner environment  requires to be in  state of harmony  when we are in harmony naturally  and Spiritually. then we  are happy, growing, healthy and can fulfill our original mandate on this planet, which is to 'Be fruitful and Multiply' according to Genesis 2:26vs 8.  This refers to all aspects of our lives,  when this state is disrupted then we experience the effects of death snd destruction.  inevertabley we will hurt our sleves or someone else.

Jesus gave us two comarndments, which was to love God and to love our neighbour as ourselves.  We need to know who we are so and love that person.  The is a devotion called My Name on https://www.patreon.com/thenichollsfamily  that will help you with this process.

Shalom!

The Genesis Moment

Th e Genesis Moment: Forming Order During Chaos Genesis means “beginning,” teaching us to create order from chaos. Instead of fearing disorder, we can establish structure, embrace responsibility, and build a foundation for growth. Becoming Maverick means transforming through challenges and stepping into stewardship over your life. Let's apply the Genesis Mindset today. Genesis—it means "beginning." I often find myself returning to the first few chapters of Genesis , especially when life feels out of control and chaotic or when I'm facing things I don’t fully understand. There’s something about these opening words of the Bible that carries profound wisdom—wisdom we often overlook. Becoming Maverick is about stepping back, recognizing the principles that govern life, and applying them with intention. Too often, we get caught up in religious or scientific debates about Genesis and miss the principles it offers for how life on earth actually works. But if we take a st...
