This is the Outline I used. I feel that it is still relevant. Please let me know what you think about this topic. Also comment on what you think I should develop this outline into e,g. a devotion, course, reflection journal, workshop, camp?
Introduction
Today, I am speaking to myself as much as I am speaking to you.
We all face a war in our minds.
To some, it is more
extensive than to others.
THE WAR IN OUR MIND
The Phillipians 4:5
Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say,
Rejoice. Php 4:5 Let your moderation
(Gentleness, Niv) be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto
God. Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which
passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus. Php 4:8 Finally, brethren,
whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever
things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,
think on these things.
Interpretation
What does the Scripture say?
1st. It tells us to Rejoice
2nd
to speak to God. How with thanksgiving in our hearts. God will
Then grant you the peace which surpasses all understanding
Will
guard our hearts and minds.
Every Battle we face is won
and lost in our minds.
Philippians then goes on to tell
us what to think about.
Things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, praiseworthy etc.
WHERE DO WE FIND THESE
“THINGS”
In the word of God.
How many times does the
word tell us to meditate on his word?
If our
mind is in line with God and the word of god, how can the devil's thoughts
control us?
Last Thought
Rom
12:2 And be not conformed to this world:
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is
that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
